In the Telugu film industry, January, especially during the Sankranthi festival, holds immense significance. This January was no exception, witnessing big releases like HanuMan, Naa Saami Ranga, Saindhav, and Guntur Karam. Among these, HanuMan emerged as the highest-grosser, while Naa Saami Ranga found success too.
However, Saindhav faced a flop, and Guntur Karam received mixed reviews but managed to be above average for buyers. Following the Sankranthi season, the box office scenario turned grim. Films like Game On, Kismat, Yatra 2 failed to make an impact, while Ambajipeta Marriage Band and True Lover, despite positive reviews, couldn’t sustain on weekdays.
Ravi Teja‘s Eagle, despite a strong opening, plummeted during weekdays, leading to losses for buyers. Even Telugu-dubbed versions of Kollywood’s films struggled. Now, all eyes are on Sundeep Kishan’s fantasy thriller, Ooru Peru Bhairavakona, slated for release on February 16th.
The film’s team is confident, having organized limited premiere shows that garnered positive responses. Additional theaters have been added due to excellent advance bookings. There’s anticipation that Ooru Peru Bhairavakona might break the ongoing dry spell in Tollywood and bring relief to distributors and exhibitors.
