Boney Kapoor, husband of late actress Sridevi, has moved the Madras High Court over a property dispute concerning Sridevi’s Chennai farmhouse, which she bought in 1988.
The land, located on East Coast Road (ECR), was very special to Sridevi and became a family farmhouse after her passing in 2018.
Boney alleged that three people falsely claimed ownership by saying they were the second wife and children of one of the land’s original owners.
They even obtained a legal heirship certificate in 2005 from the Tambaram Tahsildar, which Boney argued was wrongly issued.
He pointed out that the family of the original landowner lived in Mylapore, not Tambaram, questioning the Tahsildar’s authority. He also noted that the alleged second marriage could not be true since the first wife was alive until 1999.
The court has directed the Tahsildar to review Boney’s request within four weeks and decide on cancelling the disputed certificate.
