The Bhaijaan of Bollywood has attempted to produce at least one movie each year, but it appears that the actor’s schedule is currently running out of projects. According to sources, the actor’s anxiety over the dearth of quality scripts, not a shortage of scripts, is what has led to this predicament.

Is Khan giving the script more attention since Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan’s underwhelming box office take? For those who don’t know, the expected lifetime earnings for KKBKKJ are 110 crores or so. Even though sources suggest Salman has been offered multiple films, the actor apparently hasn’t said yes to any and, if no other projects are decided upon by the beginning of 2024, may film YRF’s Tiger versus Pathaan starring Shah Rukh Khan after Tiger 3.

Salman Khan’s current preference for choosing scripts with care has been discussed by those close to him. The source said “Salman has been approached by a lot of filmmakers, which includes some from his own camp. But for the first time in his 30-year career, there isn’t a film lined up to start any time soon.” They noted that Bhaijaan had been a little worried about the dearth of quality scripts, but after his trip to the US, he seemed to have made up his mind to sign up for films with substance, mostly ones that weren’t his own home productions.

Talking about what Salman Khan’s next, the source informed the publication, “Salman is committed to shooting for Tiger vs Pathaan from the first quarter of 2024 with Shah Rukh Khan. The film is planned as the biggest cinematic event of Indian Cinema, and he is excited about this visual spectacle with his friend, Shah Rukh Khan. 2024 will entirely be invested in shooting for Tiger vs Pathaan film.” The insider also said that although the specific dates have not yet been set, the movie would probably start production in February or March 2024.

Aside from the Karan Johar-produced Vishnu Vardhan movie, the source said that none of the screenplays that are being sent to Khan have him really interested. Insiders reported, “Lot of meetings have taken place and another one will take place soon. But the catch here is the time required for pre-production, as given the scale at which Vishnu has envisioned his subject, it would require 4 to 5 months of prep before taking it on floors.” The source added that all the modalities can be figured out only once the stakeholders arrive at a decision. “There’s also a possibility for the Vishnu Vardhan film to be a follow-up to Tiger vs Pathaan. But it’s all in the ifs and buts space at the moment as the most important factor is a yes from Salman for the film.”

According to a report, Salman Khan is also waiting on narration for Prem Ki Shaadi from Sooraj Barjatya. “This is a film which can be fast-tracked to go on floors this year. The script has been in development for the last few years and if Sooraj is ready with his draft by July, there is a minor chance for Prem Ki Shaadi to kick off from October and go on till February for a Diwali 2024 opening. However, Salman and his team are still waiting to hear an update from Barjatya and they are not willing to pressurize him to complete his writing just for the sake of taking the film on floors.”

According to the source, rumors that Bloody Daddy director Ali Abbas Zafar, who is currently in the Khan camp, will likely meet with Khan shortly, have also started to circulate. “However, the Ali Abbas Zafar film is not one that could start before Tiger vs Pathaan, as Salman is yet to even hear the subject that Ali has for him. Just the hygiene conversations have happened between the two with a formal meeting expected soon,” the source shared.

If the schedules are met, according to the source, Salman Khan would either start shooting Sooraj Barjatya’s next or the Vishnu Vardhan movie; if not, he will start working with Shah Rukh Khan on Tiger vs. Pathaan.
