Atlee opens up about Jawan being copied from this mega Hollywood movie!

The Dark Night Rises was allegedly the source of inspiration for Shah Rukh Khan’s role in Jawan, according to director Atlee.

Since it debuted on the big screens, Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan has been moving at a record-breaking rate, tearing up the ticket counters. While the industry’s elite are praising the movie, SRK fans have been gushing over Atlee’s direction from the start. In the middle of its worldwide success, the director recently discussed how The Dark Knight Rises and Mersal, starring Vijay and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, served as inspiration.

The filmmaker was recently questioned about the rumours, which he gladly acknowledged. For the uninitiated, shortly after the movie debuted in theatres, netizens claimed that the characters were modelled after Batman’s Bane, while the action sequences starring SRK and Deepika Padukone were modelled off Atlee’s own movie Mersal.

I’m not taking from there, Atlee stated in response to the same when speaking to Film Companion. “I know people will say that,” she said. I wrote Mersal, which has a wrestling scene that also appears in Jawan. Both are my films, therefore it’s okay that I am aware of that. However, when it comes to other movies, like Batman’s Bane. What mask can I use if I want to hide an actor’s face in a movie that I want to disclose in the next scene?

Additionally stating that the entire plot of Jawan is solely around masks, calling out any comparisons to Bane from Batman as a good one. “The entire film is about masks solely, therefore I went with the mask that was developed by my production designer,” he continued. “I have one half skull mask and one full bandaged mask. Just that. It was lovely. It’s acceptable if they call it Bane because that makes a decent reference.

In the meantime, Jawan just passed the 1000 crore mark globally, becoming the sixth Indian movie to do so.
