Anupama Parameswaran, who started her career with Premam in Malayalam and entered Telugu with A Aa has acted in several successful films. She is now coming up with a female-centric movie titled Paradha.
Speaking about it, Anupama said such films face challenges in theatres as audiences often prefer watching them on OTT. Since they are not always commercially viable many end up releasing directly online.
She urged people to support female-led movies in theatres, citing examples like Arundathi and Bhaagamathie which were big hits.
“Paradha has everything audiences expect from a film, except I don’t do action fights like male heroes. It’s driven by a strong story”, she said.
Anupama believes female-centric films should also follow a commercial format to succeed in theatres and requested audiences to watch if they hear good reviews.
The cast includes Darshana Rajendran, Rag Mayur, Sangitha Krish, Rajendra Prasad, and Harsha Vardhan. Directed by Praveen Kandregula, it is produced under the Ananda Media banner.
