Anupam Kher indirectly lashes out at National Awards

Actor Anupam Kher responded to the good news on his official Twitter account hours after the National Awards announcement.

At the 69th National Film Awards on Thursday, The Kashmir Files won. The Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration was given to the Vivek Agnihotri-directed movie, which also won Best Supporting Actress for actress Pallavi Joshi’s role in the movie. Actor Anupam Kher responded to the wonderful news on his official X (formerly known as Twitter) account hours after the announcement.

The 68-year-old actor did however note that he would have been thrilled to win the Best Actor prize for this film in addition to his delight. Allu Arjun won the Best Actor prize this year for the movie Pushpa: The Rise.

Anupam Kher sent a message on the microblogging platform entitled, “NATIONAL AWARD: I’m happy and thrilled that #TheKashmirFiles earned the renowned and significant Nargis Dutt award for the best feature film on national integration. I’m ecstatic by this acknowledgment for our movie, both as an executive producer and a performer in it. I also wished I had been recognised for my acting. Aage kaam karne ka maza aur utsaah kaise aega! If saari khwahishein poori ho jaaye! Chaliye! My sincere congrats to all of the winners! Jai Ho!”

The National Film Award has also prompted a response from director Vivek Agnihotri. In a statement, he said “I am in America and I started receiving calls from my friends from where I came to know that ‘The Kashmir Files’ has won the 69th National Film Awards in the category of National Integration Award. National Award is the prestigious award of India. Since starting I have been saying that The Kashmir Files is not my film and I was the only medium. This award I am dedicating on behalf of our IamBuddha Production Company to all the victims of terrorists especially to the Kashmiri Hindus and besides that, in the whole corner of the world the Hindus who are facing terrorism, and this film is their voice, their sufferings so it belongs to them.”

For the uninitiated, Mithun Chakraborty and Darshan Kumar also had significant roles in The Kashmir Files, a drama based on the lives of Kashmiri Pandits during the 1990 Kashmir uprising.
