Puneet Issar recently defended alpha male films in an interview, saying they reflect reality and connect with audiences.
He praised the South Indian film industry for making strong male-centric stories, pointing out that films like Pushpa and RRR became massive hits because of this connection.
Puneet also called Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal an “amazing film”, despite the criticism it received for promoting toxic masculinity. He believes such characters resonate with the masses and are not about male chauvinism.
Puneet added that while parallel or experimental cinema is good, it doesn’t reach as many people as commercial films. He questioned the relevance of some niche movies and emphasized the need to create content that entertains widely.
Highlighting the success of stars like Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Allu Arjun he argued that audiences prefer powerful, emotional stories led by strong characters which is why alpha male films continue to succeed at the box office.
