The Immortal Ashwatthama was introduced by producer Ronnie Screwvala with the hope that it would be another cheaply cost epic directed by Aditya Dhar.

The alleged epic by Aditya Dhar appears to have been put on hold for good. It was intended to be the ambitious follow-up movie from the Uri team, which included producer Ronnie Screwvala. The Immortal Ashwatthama, which had a budget of around 200 crores, has fallen prey to its own ambitions.

After completing the modestly budgeted military epic Uri, which had the appearance and feel of a production much more expensive than it actually was, the same producer, Ronnie Screwvala, unveiled The Immortal Ashwatthama. However, with Uri’s enormous success, the project moved West and ultimately went to waste.

The stunning information comes from a source in the know: “Director Aditya Dhar made the military epic Uri for just 25 crores, despite the fact that it appeared to have a 100 crore budget. Aditya is a member of the less-is-more school of cinema, which explains why.

describing his strict financial goals In a previous interview, Aditya Dhar had stated, “We worked under very strict budgetary conditions in Uri, and that was fantastic. because it continuously kept us on edge and nervous. I believe that anxiety greatly stimulates both productivity and creativity.I worry that having an endless budget would make me a filmmaking amateur.I would choose to work with restricted spending. As a director, my goal is to make a movie appear bigger and more spectacular than its actual budget would imply. I want to spend Rs. 30 crore. But it ought to appear to be a 150 crore film.

Aditya had remarked of The Immortal Ashwatthama, “It would be a totally different planet from the one in Uri. Yes, it is based on another real-life event, but this time in an actual location. That’s all I have to say to you. Of course, I can also inform you that Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP production company will also produce my upcoming movie. I’d be foolish to alter my priorities in light of Ronnie’s and, for that matter, Vicky Kaushal’s support of Uri and their shared conviction.

What happened to the director who turned a 25 crore movie into a 100 crore movie, then? What happened to his intention to make his $30 million movie appear to cost $150 million?

Ronnie Screwvala of VIP made the decision to shelve the project rather than risk losing additional money.

Finally, Jio Studios resurrected the project after Screwvala put it on hold. However, they desired a hero who was more powerful than Vicky Kaushal or Ranveer Singh. Dhar desired Kaushal, his hero from Uri. When Jio Studios deemed that unsatisfactory, they gave Ranveer Singh some thought.

The most recent information on this front is that Pushpa actor Allu Arjun, who was asked to play the lead role, has also declined after learning about the turbulent past of the proposed movie.

It was revealed that the immortal Ashwatthama wasn’t really immortal after all.
