Ali Fazal & Sonali Bendre To Star In Series Based On Ranga-Billa Case

Actors Ali Fazal and Sonali Bendre have started shooting for a new web series in Delhi, directed by Prosit Roy. The show is said to be based on the real life Ranga-Billa murder case, one of Delhi’s most shocking crimes from 1978.

The case involved the kidnapping and murder of siblings Geeta and Sanjay Chopra. Two men Ranga and Billa, originally planned to steal a car but changed their minds when they saw the children inside. The crime gained national attention and eventually led to changes in laws related to kidnapping and child safety.

While the makers haven’t officially confirmed the plot, sources say the series closely follows the real events. The team has done in-depth research, and the show aims to present the case with sensitivity, focusing on how it impacted Delhi at the time.

This is the first time the Ranga-Billa case is being adapted into a scripted series.
