Bahubali has opened new avenues not just for Telugu filmmakers but filmmakers from different languages as well. If Karthi went on to make Kashmora, all credits to Bahubali, if Krish was able to gain courage to make an historical in this market situation with Balakrishna, then credits to Bahubali. These are some early films, there are several other bilinguals and trilinguals in planning and production. Now another film is announced from Malayalam industry with Mohan Lal.
The movie has been in planning from 2011 but then the production cost worried the producers and it was shelved. The story of the movie is adapted from a novel, Randamoozham, written by M.T. Vasudevan Nair, based on Mahaprastanika Parva from Mahabharat. In the Parva, Pandavas have won the Kurukshetra battle and ruled the land for years to come. They are now, looking to leave to heavenly abode. They start their walk to reach the Mountain Sumeru and except for Yudhistira, no one will be able to complete the journey along with a dog. This is the Parva that deals with Lord Krishna’s heavenly abode too. The chapter reveals the good deeds and bad deeds of Pandavas with a one on one question session with several falling off the cliffs one by one till Yudhistira reaches the peak.
The book retells this story in a realistic manner devoid of all heavenly magic from the point of view of Bheema. The book won many prizes and greatly popular among the literary enthusiasts in Malayalam. The book has been written in English as well. The movie will have great amount of retelling off Epic Mahabharata as well all from the point view of Bheema.
The role of Bheema has been offered to Mohan Lal and Akkineni Nagarjuna is being on the verge of signing the movie for a very important character. What would be the character or what will be his role has not been announced yet? Other cast members in consideration are Amitabh Bachchan and Vikram. Manju Menon is also considered for a role. Sreekumar Menon is directing the movie with a reported shopping budget of 500 to 600 cr budget in two installments.
