Akira Nandan Wins Legal Battle Over AI Film
The Delhi High Court has passed an interim order stopping the release of an AI-generated film made on Akira Nandan. The court said the film misuses Akira Nandan’s name, image, voice, and personality.
The court has directed Sambhawaami Studios LLP and others to immediately stop using Akira Nandan’s identity in the film titled AI Love Story, as it was done without his permission. Akira had approached the court seeking protection of his privacy and personality rights.
The film AI Love Story showed Akira Nandan as the lead actor and was created using AI morphing and deepfake technology without his consent.
Both Telugu and English versions of the film were uploaded on YouTube. After reviewing the AI-generated visuals, the court issued the order.
It also instructed social media platforms, including Meta, to remove the content from their platforms.
