Akhanda 2 was not delayed because of any problem with the film. The issue comes from a very old financial dispute related to Aagadu and 1 Nenokkadine.
Around 2015, Eros International and 14 Reels Entertainment had a deal but payments and documents later turned into a legal fight.
In 2019, the tribunal ordered 14 Reels to pay over Rs. 27 crore with interest and not handle those films or any new related projects until dues were cleared. Courts, including the Supreme Court, confirmed this order, but no payment was made.
For four years nothing moved. In 2025, when Akhanda 2 was getting ready for release under 14 Reels Plus LLP, Eros claimed both companies were controlled by the same people and used to avoid payment.
Eros approached the Madras High Court to stop the release. After appeals, the court ruled that Akhanda 2 cannot release until the full arbitration amount is paid, halting the movie completely.
