Shah Rukh Khan runs the Meer Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping acid attack victims and others.
Imagine not being able to open a bank account because you were the victim of an acid assault. This is exactly what happened to Pragya Prasun when a KYC machine was unable to read all of her biometric information due to her inability to blink. Pragya requested assistance from Shah Rukh Khan.
In a tweet recounting her experience, Pragya included the hashtags “Meer Foundation” and “It’s my right too to be able to open a bank account,” along with the names of Shah Rukh Khan and the megastar.
The Meer Foundation is Shah Rukh Khan’s charitable initiative that supports corrective operations as well as the rehabilitation of acid attack victims.
“Being an acid attack survivor should not prevent me from living a life with dignity,” Pragya posted, tagging Shah Rukh Khan. I was unfairly denied a bank account just because I can’t blink during the KYC procedure. I’m asking @iamsrk @MeerFoundation for assistance so that I can make this planet welcoming to all acid attack survivors because “I Wont Blink.”
She pleaded with Sandeep Bakhshi, CEO of ICICI Bank, to review this policy and offer quick and simple alternatives for people who cannot blink an eye to register a bank account, in addition to asking Shah Rukh Khan for assistance.
In order to assist those with disabilities, she continued, “I also implore them to restore the physical application process, as online-only options may not always be suitable for everyone.”
