Pawan Kalyan the second brother of the most famous Telugu Mega Star Chiranjeevi. Chiranjeevi toiled hard for years to create a name for himself and basing on his fan base both of his brothers tried to make successful careers in acting and producing films. Nagendra Babu dud produce few successful films on Anjana Productions but could never become the actor like his elder brother.
But Pawan Kalyan, had a different thought process and he trained himself in martial arts and acting before he was launched as a hero in 1995. His First film in the direction EVV Satyanarayana, Akkada Ammayi Ikkada Abbayi released with much fanfare as it marked debut of him along with Yarlagadda Supriya from Akkineni family. The movie released in 1996 but did not become a huge blockbuster as expected. Supriya never acted after that and Pawan chose Gokulam lo Seetha, a remake with veteran Muthyala Subbaiah to mark a success at box office. Then came Sushwagatham movie in Bheemineni Srinivasa Rao direction, and the movie again registered a hit.
After the two remakes, Pawan gave chance to a newbie Karunakaran for his next and that was Tholi prema. The movie became a smash success at box office and Pawan as Balu became more close to Telugu youth. The next movies, Thammudu and Badri consolidated his position as a youth hearthhrob and next film, Kushi became an Industry Hit. Pawan Kalyan became the sensation that every youth hero wanted to be. His movies featuring him as a stunt cherographer, dance cherographer showcased his talents in new light.
The confidence that these sequences gave him made him to think about writing his ideas on paper and directing them as well. But that led to his downfall. Even though his direction skills and singing were appreciated his writing found wanting and the movie Johnny became his first disaster. Since then, his movies for 12 years, Gudumba Shankar, Balu, Panja, Teenmar, Puli Bangaram, Annavaram became disasters and the only respite was Trivikram ‘s Jalsa. But in the new decade he scored a Blockbuster with Gabbar Singh.
Even though his immediate movie, Cameraman Ganga tho Rambabu failed, his family story outing with friend Trivikram, Attharintiki Daredi became a huge success. He appeared as Lord Krishna in Gopala Gopala and after 3 years released his solo hero film, Sardaar Gabbar Singh. Sardaar failed to repeat the success of the predecessor. In between all these highs and lows, his craze among the youth never died down rather increased further after Gabbar Singh and Attharintiki Daredi. A new word was coined by his fans, Pawanism.
Not a person to sit away from issues, he gave his support to Mahesh Babu in his fight against piracy. When he was criticised by his own family member he gave up his gun and started Common Man Protection Force. He gave unconditional support to his brother when he announced his political entry and started Praja Rajyam Party. After the party was dissolved into Congress, owing to his ideology difference with Congress and their behaviour during State Division, he started a new party, Jana Sena during 2014 elections and supported Telugu Desam Party in their quest to win the election. But he never joined the government and is in full preparation to actively join politics.
He admitted that he has financial issues and would clear them all by making back to back films and enter full time politics giving up acting. Going by that he started his films back to back, his film Katamarayudu, remake of Veeram and on dussehra, a pooja ceremony was held for his next in direction of Neason, Vedalam remake. His 25th movie with Trivikram is also announced by the producers Radhakrishna. The shooting of this movie will start from November. Looks like great days ahead for fans of Pawan Kalyan politically and films wise. 20 years of Pawanism indeed!
