Zeenat Aman On Beauty And Self-Acceptance

Zeenat Aman recently shared a heartfelt note on beauty and self-acceptance on Insta alongside an old picture of herself. She reflected on how she never fully considered herself beautiful even though others did.

“Sometimes I see an old picture of myself and think ‘You weren’t a bad looking girl, Ms. Aman!'” she wrote adding that younger people around her often respond with groans and eye-rolls.

Despite winning a beauty pageant, being cast as a leading lady and being called a “sex symbol” and Zeenat admitted she struggled to embrace her looks.

She felt that constantly performing beauty for the public, rather than truly feeling it affected her emotional self-worth. She also spoke about ‘pretty privilege’ and how it shaped her experiences in a world that can be harsh.

Zeenat emphasized that no matter how admired one’s appearance is it has little meaning without self love. She encouraged people to view themselves through the eyes of someone who loves them saying that no cream, collagen or facelift can replace the power of inner acceptance and love.
