Yatra was a film that showcased the life and rise of YS Rajasekhar Reddy. Yatra 2 is the biopic of YS Jagan and has been in the making for quite some time now. It was released today and has Jiiva in the lead role of YS Jagan. Read the detailed Yatra 2 Review here.

Yatra 2 Story: After the passing away of YSR(Mammootty), YS Jagan(Jiiva) takes up his father’s position and gets cornered by the Union government. He takes his father’s position, starts a part, and goes against Chandrababu Naidu(Mahesh Manjrekar) wins the election, and becomes the CM on AP. How all this is done is showcased in the film.

Performances: Jiiva is perfect as YS Jagan and has worked hard on his performance. Though he looks a bit raw in the beginning, he makes up for it in the second half. Jiiva shines in all the emotional scenes and has been showcased well by Mahi v Raghav. Mammootty is shown in a cameo and brings a lot of depth in the first half. Mahesh Manjrekar as Chandrababu is quite good and holds your attention. Ashrita, who plays Jagan’s mom, and the actress who plays his wife are quite good in the film. Subhalekha Sudhakar gets an impressive role.

Technical Aspects: Santhosh Narayanan composes the music and his work is superb. He elevates even the normal scenes with his solid BGM. The camerawork by Madhie is top-notch and showcases the political atmosphere well. The editing is neat in the first half but could have been better in the second as the pace dips a bit. The dialogues are not that great and the writing is one-sided as it only showcases the greatness of YS Jagan. The screenplay could have been much better in the second half as the drama drops big time.

Analysis: Yatra 2 is a propaganda film and there is no denying the fact. It is only made to highlight YS Jagan as a great leader. In all this, one gets a feeling that the film is one-sided and tells the story of the coin on one side. Mahi V Raghav starts the film on an impressive note and manages to hold your attention in the first half. But in the second half, it is only praise for Jagan.

The director should have showcased more drama in the second half. The way Jagan suffers after going to jail, what happens in his absence, and how he gets bail are not at all showcased. The fight against the Congress party is also showcased on a very predictable note. One should have shown the sufferings of Jagan more to create more impact.

Though Mahi V Raghav did not create much of enemies in the villain, showcasing Jagan as the hero was only a one-point agenda in the film. If the drama would have been more realistic, things would have made a lot of sense. But the performances and a few intense scenes impress in the narrative and make you sit through the film.

Verdict: Overall, Yatra 2 is a movie that only YS Jagan fans will like. Also, the audiences who don’t understand the political mobilizations and tensions in the state of AP can watch it once. For those who have complete political knowledge, it is a bit difficult to digest things that are not consistent in this political drama made to highlight YS Jagan.

Bottom Line – A propaanda film to highlight YS Jagan
