After having impressed the audience with films like Pathashala, Anandobrahma, Yatra, Save the Tigers and Saitan, director Mahi V. Raghav is set for another magnum opus Yatra 2. The film is being produced by Siva Meka under the banner 3 Autumn Leaves and V Celluloid. The motion poster of Yatra 2 was released on the occasion of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy’s birth anniversary (July 8).
Speaking on the occasion at a press conference held in Hyderabad the director said that while choosing the story, as a filmmaker, he also looks into commercial aspects of storytelling. “Yatra involves a political leader getting to know himself, people’s problems, and people getting to know what he is. In Yatra 2 I will show the rise of Jagan Mohan Reddy as a political leader – from 2009 to 2019,” says Mahi.
The director says that Yatra 2 revolves around the point of a son who kept his father’s promise. He further adds that he doesn’t believe in thinking voters are getting influenced by biopics and films while voting. “Andhra voters are extremely smart; they know what to do,” Mahi shares.
On a concluding note, the director comments that making political films is a risk. “Hence I am staying true to the story I have chosen. We are releasing the film in February 2024 before the elections in Andhra Pradesh,” he says, adding that there had to be some saleability to every film and the timing of this film’s release is the edge.
