Yatra 2 hasn’t lived up to expectations, facing significant disappointment at the box office. While its predecessor, Yatra 1, garnered attention and praise with its promotional content and songs, Yatra 2 failed to generate the same buzz among audiences and movie enthusiasts.
Despite both films carrying political themes, Yatra 1’s success, opening with a 3Cr share and ultimately collecting over 10Cr, set a high bar. Achieving a double-digit share without a Telugu star in the lead for a political film was remarkable.
However, Yatra 2 encountered several challenges. Its budget doubled that of the first part, with substantial expenses for the cast and crew. The promotional content and songs failed to capture audience interest beyond existing fans. Consequently, Yatra 2’s opening day collections were only about half of Yatra 1’s numbers.
Despite initial support from political leaders, the film’s performance declined sharply on the second day and continues to struggle at the box office. Fortunately, buyers won’t face losses as the film was released solely on an advance basis.
Nevertheless, considering the team’s expenditures and the disappointing collections, Yatra 2’s performance falls far short of expectations. It’s likely to conclude with a worldwide share of less than 4Cr, highlighting the significant disparity between anticipation and reality for this sequel.
