Writer Padmabhushan starring Suhas and Tina Shilparaj as the lead pair has created a good buzz among the audience with its promotional stuff. Directed by Shanmukha Prasanth, the film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it fares.

Story: A budding writer named Padmabhushan (Suhas) himself exaggerates his writing skills. Being a librarian at a library house in Vijayawada, he even publishes a book titled Okka Mettu which lacks a response from the public. This is the time, Padmabhushan’s uncle( Ramana Rao) comes into the picture and fixed his daughter’s ( Tina Shilparaj) marriage with Write Padmabhushan. Even though Padmabhushan is well aware that his book was a flop in the market, he keeps quiet and agrees to marry his sister-in-law. Eventually, Padmabhushan comes to know that someone is using his name as a publisher for their writings and decides to track them. What kind of unexpected facts will Padmabhushan find out in his investigation, forms the crucial crux.

Performances: Suhas is impressive in his role as a guy with an ambitious writer. His subtle acting during all the key scenes brings depth to the proceedings.

Ashish Vidyarthi and Rohini fitted in their roles perfectly as the lead actor’s parents. After a long time, Ashish Vidyarthi got a meaty role and the actor gave an impactful performance. On the other hand, Rohini did her part amazingly as a homemaker.

Heroine Tina Shilparaj is cute on the screen. Her chemistry with Suhas is showcased nicely. Acting-wise, Tins gave a decent performance. Young actress Gouri Priya’s role is interlinking with suspense and a small twist in it. She did her part nicely. She did her part nicely. Other supporting artists who did key supporting roles are okay in their respective roles.

Technicalities: Shekar Chandra’s music is appealing. His songs are passable on screen. Yet another musician Kalyan Nayak’s background score is apt to the film’s genre.

Editing work by Kodati Pavan Kalyan is alright. The photography work is good as the entire film is showcased on a captivating note. Production values for this limited-budget movie are good. The choreography work in a song is attractive.

Analysis: Director Shanmukha Prasanth’s basic idea is fresh and has a good scope to module it into a breezed family drama but it diluted the proceedings with unwanted deviations in the second half.

During the first forty minutes, the director did a good job with proper character establishment scenes on the lead artists but later failed to maintain the same tempo throughout. Though the interval block with a twist is handled well, the same impact is not seen in the second-half proceedings.

To summarize, Write Padmabhushan has a good point that is not utilized properly with a mediocre narrative. Plain proceedings with a predictable twist and simple execution make the film strictly average fare.

Verdict: Misses target!
