Before the pandemic, the cinema-going culture was a whole phenomenon in the Telugu states, with families going to the cinema every weekend, friends meeting up for cinema, etc. However, the pandemic changed everything drastically, resulting in the shutting down of theatres for months together, so that the virus wouldn’t spread. This also increased the culture of everyone sitting at home and watching and consuming content on OTT platforms, which has only been increasing in recent times.
While many movies have been released so far, after the pandemic, no big movie was released until recently. The release of major films started with Prabhas’s Radhe Shyam, and the euphoria has now kicked in with Rajamouli’s RRR, which is all set for a grand release tomorrow, on March 25th. After RRR, a number of films are ready for release in the summer.
As a result, it is expected that the cinema-going culture that everyone was privy to, before the pandemic, would return in the summer. It is now to be seen whether this would happen successfully or not.
