Will Kamal Haasan Complete His Dream Project?

Fans of Kamal Haasan know about his ambitious project, Marudhanayagam. Announced in 1991 and started filming in 1997, this film was directed and produced by Kamal Haasan himself. Though the film was shelved, it still sparks interest among his followers.

Recently, in an interview about his new film Indian 2, directed by Shankar Shanmugam, Kamal Haasan talked about Marudhanayagam. With humor, he hinted at reviving the project if someone questioning a 106-year-old doing stunts in Indian 2 stops doing so.

Kamal joked about how the same person would react to him playing a 40-year-old Muhammed Yusuf Khan at age 70. He said it could be done but gave no details on the revival, leaving fans excited for updates.

Marudhanayagam was planned as a highly ambitious and advanced film for its time in Indian cinema, with an initial budget of ₹85 crores. Some parts were filmed, but financial issues arose. Haasan wanted international funding for a multilingual release. Now, the main challenge is showing age transitions on screen realistically. Cutting-edge technology and high production costs add to the uncertainty of the film’s future.
