Director Gunasekhar has shifted all of his focus to periodic films and has readied a bunch of scripts already. He initially planned on making Hiranyakashyapa with Rana Daggubati, but he shifted his focus to Shaakuntalam as Rana is busy with his other projects and it will take some time before he can allot bulk dates to Gunasekhar.
Shaakuntalam was officially launched a few months ago, and stars Samantha Akkineni in the titular role, while Malayalam actor Dev Mohan will be seen playing King Dushyant. Shaakuntalam is an epic tale of love, which shows us the literal journey of a devoted wife travelling thousands of kilometres to lift the curse of her husband and make her husband remember her, and their son.
Gunasekhar is planning to rope in a star kid to play Shakuntala and Dushyant’s son Bharat. It is being said that Gunasekhar is trying to rope in either Abhay Ram, NTR’s son, or Allu Ayaan, Allu Arjun’s son. Given that NTR made his acting debut as a child in Gunasekhar’s Bala Ramayanam, and Allu Arjun stole the show in Rudramadevi as Gona Ganna Reddy, it would be great to see either Abhay or Ayaan essay the role of Bharat in the film. Here’s hoping that Gunasekhar will succeed in his attempt.
