Why Was Kamal Haasan Not in Shankar’s ‘Robo’?

This film “Robot”(Enthiran) is one of India cinema’s biggest hits. This movie was in Shankar’s mind a decade before its actual onset in the year 2010. At first, he wanted Kamal Haasan for the hero and Preity Zinta for the heroine roles and even shot look tests with both the artists. Some of these tests were photographed and later shared on the social media platforms.

Thus, it is interesting to cede the word to Kamal and know why he did not follow through on the movie. He said that Shankar who is attending the program, him and writer Sujatha had also discussed about adapting the novel “I Robot” in the 90s. They shot a look test of Kamal’s part but the project was stopped due to problems such as the availability of funds and the scale of payment.

Many years later, Shankar remade “Robo” with star actor Rajinikanth and the movie turned into a star-financed picture. Shankar also requested for Kamal fully engage in the villainous role in “2. 0,” which is the sequel to the “Robo. ” Kamal laughed and said that he still wanted to be the hero for a few more years. Finally, ‘Robo’ emerged to be a record maker in Indian film industry.
