Why Sanjay Gupta Refused to Accept Gadar 2 and Jawan’s Success?

Movies like Jawan and Gadar 2 would only experience popularity for a short period of time, according to director Sanjay Gupta, who expressed his ideas on big-budget movies!

Let’s just say that after a protracted absence, Covid-19’s box office collecting has changed since the King Khan made his comeback with Pathaan. Moviegoers are flocking to the movies to catch new releases like OMG 2, Dream Girl 2, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, Gadar 2 or Jawan, which have been making a sizable profit.

However, despite Gadar 2 and Jawan’s record-breaking box office receipts, director Sanjay Gupta expressed some of his ideals that were at odds with the outcomes.

Sanjay Gupta said in an interview with ETimes that he won’t believe these films are successful unless mid- and low-budget films succeed in the box office. Gadar 2 and Jawan are high-budget films that took two to three years to produce, he claimed. After a few weeks, the theatres will be completely vacant as people wait for the release of the next major movie. One film a year is done by all the big names. No famous actor appears in two films. In the previous five years, SRK has not had a release. In two years, Hrithik and Aamir also produce one movie. It cannot be true that the films of only these top 5–6 stars are successful, he continued. When individuals visit theatre a number of films, I’d argue that the audiences have returned.

Sanjay Gupta continued by explaining how their jubilation is fleeting, to which the director of Kaante retorted, “Absolutely not.” What are we honouring today? No, this money isn’t going to the movie business. It is returning to the investors. What if anything does it alter for the movie business? The ailing exhibitors have experienced some alleviation. For a moment, they are joyful, but they also know in their hearts, “Yeh chaar din ki chaandni hai.”

He even mentioned how Indians enjoy “free ka maal” and are willing to watch films on OTT platforms if the actors aren’t well-known. Sanjay claimed that even though we pay for these platforms, in a way, they are just free and that the public skips 95% of the films.
