“The Goat Life” (Aadu Jeevitham), a Malayalam film starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Amala Paul, found success in Kerala but faced challenges in other regional markets. In Kerala, it received critical acclaim and became the first Malayalam film to exceed ₹ 64 crores in worldwide collections.
However, in Telugu markets, it struggled due to competition from the blockbuster “Tillu Square” and possibly because the survival thriller genre didn’t resonate as strongly with Telugu audiences. Despite this, the film performed better in Tamil Nadu, with a ₹ 1 crore opening and a total gross of ₹ 5 crores so far.
“The Goat Life,” is main survival thriller based on a true story and adapted from the novel of the same name, struck a chord with Malayalam audiences. However, the Telugu market remained unaffected. There are a various reasons for this dull reception.
Prithviraj’s fame from his part in “Salaar” wasn’t able to into success in the Telugu market this time. Overall, “The Goat Life” was successful in its home state and certain nearby regions, but it struggled to appeal to audiences outside of Kerala.
