Last year, when Coronavirus first struck the nation, and naturally the various film industries of the world and India, everyone was in shock and wasn’t sure how they were supposed to go ahead with shootings or releases. This year, even though India is plagued by the second wave of coronavirus, there isn’t as much panic as there was last year, due to the experience that was gained from last year’s events.
Almost every Tollywood actor came forward to help out the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments, by donating to the respecting Chief Minister’s Relief Funds. Many even helped the daily wage workers of Tollywood, whose position was the absolute worst due to film shootings coming to a halt.
This year, while Megastar Chiranjeevi promised to help out daily wage workers and to get them vaccinated, the rest of Tollywood is dead silent. No one else has come forward to help out this year, and a lot of people have expressed their disappointment in the top stars of Tollywood remaining silent this year. Actors continue to strike deals with major production houses, despite the ongoing pandemic, which is one of the main reasons why the public is disappointed by Tollywood’s silence. This feeling has only been intensified in the public after several Kollywood actors came forward to help Tamil Nadu during the second wave. With the situation unlikely to get better anytime soon, it is to be seen if Tollywood actors finally respond in the days to come.
