Kollywood star Ajith Kumar’s new film under the direction of Vignesh Shivn was formally announced a few months back. Tentatively titled, AK62, the film was supposed to go on the floors by January end but for the past few weeks, the buzz is circulating among media circles that there might be a change in the director for the film.
True to the buzz, noted Tamil director Magizh Thirumeni replaced Vignesh Shivn for #AK62. An official announcement regarding the change of director is likely to be out soon. Getting into the insights of Magizh Thirumeni, the talented director earlier directed thrillers such as Thadaiyara Thaakka, Meaghamann, Thadam and Kalaga Thalaivan. Lyca Productions is on board to produce the film.
When Vignesh Shivn was locked for AK62, news came out that the film will have a Mumbai backdrop. We had even reported that the digital giant Netflix has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of AK62 for a whopping price.
Reports also came out that Ajith will be seen as a middle-aged person with two kids in the film. Santhanam and Aravind Swami are also considered for key roles. Whatever might be the reason, the change for the director for AK62 is definitely a lost opportunity for Vignesh Shivn.
