It is widely known that after the blockbuster success of Rangasthalam, director Sukumar approached Superstar Mahesh Babu for his next in 2019. After making an official announcement regarding the project due to some creative differences between the star actor-director duo, the project was shelved.
Later, Mahesh went ahead with Anil Ravipudi’s Sarileru Neekevvaru. On the other hand, Sukumar announced his project with Allu Arjun. Titled Pushpa, the film was released last Friday with mixed response from the moviegoers. On the release day, a few enthusiastic Mahesh Babu fans made some hard-hitting comments on Sukumar and thanked Mahesh for rejecting a routine template film like Pushpa at the scripting stage itself.
But as per the industry sources, the news is that Sukumar initially planned to make a different project with Mahesh and as it was shelved, the creative director approached Allu Arjun with the script of Pushpa. Though Pushpa has been carrying below-par reports, the film has been minting solid revenues at the domestic and overseas markets. After witnessing the superb response for the first part of Pushpa, the team has decided to kick-start the shooting for the second installment of Pushpa from Feburary 2022. Mythri Movie Makers banner in association with Muttamsetty Media bankrolled Pushpa- The Rise and will be continuing the same collaboration for the second part also.
