Well, telugu film industry is not new for some interestingly weird titles. These titles could be as eccentric as Idiot, Desamuduru, Pokiri and Loafer and as soft, romantic as, interesting fact all these are derived from popular songs, Bhale Bhale Mogadivoy, Srirasthu Subhamasthu, Ye Maaya Chesave, Ramayya Vasthavayya, Yentha Vaaru Gani, Yeto Vellipoindi Manasu and Oka Laila Kosam.
Now, what title will you decide on when your protagonist is a ‘Donor’ ? That too a sperm donor? The first look poster of the film made it clear what the film and character is all about. Getting back to the question, what should be the title?Even the production team were confused and wondering how to capture the imagination of people with the title itself. Since the film is not dealing with some blood donation or organ donation, any serious words would take out the funkiness from the film. So Sumanth the hero of the film, one day in his routine, heard a song of Nandamuri Balakrishna that is still so popular.
Immediately he got an idea for the title. We think you already got the song, yes Naruda O Naruda from Bhairawadweepam film, directed by Singeetham Sreenivasa Rao and enacted by Rambha and Balakrishna, is behind the idea of thus whacky title. After getting the idea of DONARuda, Sumanth floated the idea to many and after getting positive feedback from them, the final nail came from S.S. Rajamouli’s stamp of approval.
Sumanth shared his idea with Rajamouli, Keeravani and some of his close team members at an audio function and immediately they laughed out loud, suggested to look no further and lock the title. Sumanth took the hit machine of Telugu Film Industry and finalised the title as Naruda DONARuda. The first look released by Akkineni Nagarjuna through his social networking site, twitter garnered a lot of interest and generated lot of buzz among the common audience as well.
