Shakeela was given the name Shakeela Begum when she was born into a Muslim family in Kodambakkam, Madras, India. She took an unusual route into the film industry because she was unable to pass the test for her high school diploma before starting her career.

Shakeela has primarily appeared in B films and softcore pornography from the start of her acting career. Her breakthrough occurred with the release of the movie “Kinnarathumbikal,” which launched her into the spotlight and attracted an enormous fan base, ranging from youthful ardents to the older age.

Shakeela appeared in some contentious topless moments in several of her early films, which was crucial in helping her become well-known. Her B films were dubbed and released in practically all Indian languages, thus they weren’t limited to just one. Additionally, because her films were dubbed into languages including Sinhala, Chinese, and Nepalese, they even attracted audiences outside. As a result, her name became linked with the soft-porn flicks known as “Shakeela films” in India.

Shakeela used Surayya Banu as a body duplicate for her topless sequences in order to manage several scenes.

Shakeela’s career in cinema came to an end with the Tamil film “Engada Iruthinga Ivvalavu Naala,” which served as her last film.
