It is well-known that the cinema ticket pricing issue in the state of Andhra Pradesh is creating ripples among filmmakers and distributors across the state. As per the industry reports, the new ticket pricing GO brought by the state government earlier this year is not at all a flexible one to meet at least the expenditure for theatre owners, exhibitors, distributors and filmmakers.
Earlier, industry bigwigs such as Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna among others approached the Andhra Pradesh government to discuss the same but failed to get a fruitful result. For the past few days, a few single screens across the state are seized by the government officials by saying that they are not following the safety norms. On the other hand, close to a hundred and fifty theatres were shut down voluntarily as a sign of disagreement for the new ticket pricing GO.
Meanwhile, this afternoon news came out that Megastar Chiranjeevi is once again planning to meet the AP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy with a group of industry bigwigs and give him a representation on the issues being faced due to the low ticket prices by various sections who are dependent on movies. Reportedly, Chiranjeevi even sought an appointment with YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for Thursday. Now, the million-dollar question is that will Jagan Reddy give an appointment to Chiranjeevi and his colleagues? Remains to be seen.
