We recently informed you that Shah Rukh Khan, not Ranveer Singh, was Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s first choice to play nemesis Allaudin Khilji. Ranveer, who had been selected to portray the part, reportedly chose against accepting the job for reasons that are perhaps best known to him. However, Sanjay Leela Bhansali later moved on to SRK and asked him to play the same part.
The continued, “After hearing SLB out, he agreed to play Alauddin Khilji on one condition: the film’s title should be changed, as his fans would not like to see him in a film titled after the heroine.”
Recently, a Reddit user posted an old interview with Shah Rukh Khan, in which he discussed leaving a project at the last minute because he was confident he could make the evil character “likeable.” Despite his refusal to share the title of the movie, internet users have connected it to Padmaavat and believe that this is the real reason Shah Rukh Khan turned down the role.
In a previous interview, Shah Rukh Khan talked about playing particular parts. SRK revealed the fascinating fact to Anupama Chopra, saying, “This may be the first time I am telling it. I won’t mention the movie, but I participated in a few that were very successful at the box office and were well-liked by the audience. When I realised that I was playing a role based on a real-life person who might not be the person, I had already said yes to them. I informed the director that there is no way that I would turn him into a “likeable” character. Simply put, I don’t think this person should be liked. I shouldn’t be trying to sell it to the public.
