When Aishwarya Rai Was ‘Hurt’ about Being Removed from Five Films

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was once removed from five films. When Simi Garewal questioned her about it, she said she had no explanation.

Following Priyanka Chopra’s admission of being “pushed into a corner in the industry (Bollywood),” an old video of Aishwarya Rai discussing being dropped from five films surfaced online. When these films were taken away from her without explanation, Aishwarya said she was taken aback and hurt. She discussed it with Simi Garewal on her show. In the video, Simi refers to Shah Rukh Khan, saying, “You were working together in five films, weren’t you?” Aish. Veer Zara was written specifically for you.”

When Simi asked if her exit from the films was her choice, the actor replied, “No, it wasn’t my choice.” “You’re obviously taken aback, confused, and hurt. “You wonder about it,” she expressed after being removed. Simi continued, “Did that experience change your perspective on how things work in Bollywood?”

“You become more aware of what you’ve heard about, like in terms of…situations, people having a domino effect on other people or other projects,” Aishwarya explained. It became clear that it could also happen to me…despite your apparent box office success or secure positioning in the industry.” Aishwarya and Shah Rukh were set to appear in several films together, including Chalte Chalte, Kal Ho Naa Ho, and Veer Zaara.

In the same interview, Simi asked Aishwarya if she had ever questioned Shah Rukh about his decision. “It’s not in my nature,” she replied. If someone feels the need to explain something, they will. They have no intention of doing so if they have never done so. As a result, it’s not in my nature to wonder what and why. Probably within myself, but I wouldn’t approach someone and ask why. By God’s grace, I am not defined by the other.”
