What’s Delaying ‘Gangs of Godavari’?

In December 2023, Vishwak Sen, the star actor, stated that he wouldn’t promote the film “Gangs of Godavari” if it missed its December release. However, as of February 2024, the film’s shooting is still ongoing. While there were unofficial plans to release it on March 8th, Vishwak Sen announced his own film “Gaami” for the same date.

The situation with “Gangs of Godavari” is a bit complex. They still have some shooting left, including an item song featuring Eesha Rebba, a fight sequence, and another song with Vishwak Sen and Neha Shetty. However, a death in the technical team’s family has caused delays. This might be related to the recent passing of legendary composer Ilayaraja’s daughter, as his son Yuvan Shankar Raja is working on the film’s background score.

Given the circumstances, Vishwak Sen prefers not to rush the release and respects the need for time to deal with the loss. Meanwhile, other films are filling the release slots, so “Gangs of Godavari” needs to choose a date before or after a film titled “Kalki 2898 AD.”

The delays in “Gangs of Godavari” stem from incomplete shooting and the need for compassion toward the technical team’s bereavement. The film’s release date remains uncertain amidst scheduling conflicts with other movies.
