When Megastar Chiranjeevi announced his return to films, all of his fans and Mega fans were the happiest people, to say the least. There were a lot of discussions about who would direct Chiranjeevi in his comeback film, and since it was to be his 150th film, there was a lot more excitement and speculation as well. Initially, Puri Jagannath was on board to direct Chiranjeevi in his comeback, but VV Vinayak ultimately directed Chiru in Khaidi No 150, which is a remake of the Tamil film Kaththi, starring Vijay, and directed by Murugadoss.
A majority of fans were disappointed in Chiru’s selection of a remake movie to make his comeback, and even general audiences were disappointed with Chiru’s choice. Everyone wondered why he chose to make his comeback with a remake, rather than with an original film. Post Khaidi No 150 though, Chiranjeevi managed to satisfy his fans with an original film in the form of Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy.
While Chiranjeevi is currently working on Acharya, an original script, directed by Koratala Siva, his upcoming films are remakes. He is remaking the Malayalam superhit Lucifer, with director Mohan Raja, and the Tamil film Vedhalam, with director Meher Ramesh. With Chiranjeevi doing and opting for remakes over original films, everyone is wondering why the actor is repeatedly choosing remakes, and if it is because he’s not interested in original scripts, or if it’s because he’s not being offered original scripts anymore. Whatever Chiranjeevi’s reason may be, fans would probably be more excited if he chose to do more original films than remakes.
