SS Rajamouli’s pre-independence patriotic drama, RRR had a theatrical release in Japan on October 21st.
Along with Rajamouli, the lead heroes NTR and Ram Charan even left for Japan and promoted RRR in an aggressive way.
Meanwhile, the latest news is that RRR completed a 100-day run at the Japanese box office.
Reportedly, the film collected approximately ¥725 million( close to Rs 46 crore gross in Indian currency) at the box office in Japan.
The film has now emerged as the all-time highest gross overtaking the previous record set by Rajinikanth’s 90s film, Muthu which collected ¥400 million.
As promoted by the makers, RRR ran for 100 days in 114 centers. While 42 of them are direct hundred days centers,
the rest centers ran on a shift base, say the official poster released by DVV Entertainments banner.
Even Rajamouli’s previous film, Baahubali, did quite well in Japan. This Prabhas starrer collected 365 million yen in Japan.
Other Indian films which did impressive business in Japan include Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots which grossed ¥149 million.
Even English Vinglish and Prabhas’ Saaho collected ¥146 million and ¥120 million respectively at the Japanese box office.
