Starting his career as a character artiste, Rajinikanth eventually emerged as the  Kollywood Superstar by delivering  back-to-back blockbusters. 

He made his debut with the Tamil film Apoorva Raagangal directed by K Baalachander; Rajini played a supporting role in the movie and had  his colleague Kamal Haasan in the  lead role.  

Later, Rajini debuted in Kannada with a film titled Katha Sangama. In the same year, Rajinikanth debuted Telugu with a movie titled Anthuleni Katha as a supporting actor.   

Later, for almost five years later, Rajinikanth did straight films in Tamil, Kannada and Telugu languages. He even debuted in Malayalam with the film  Allauddinum Arputha Vilakkum.  

Rajinikanth, a Tamil lead actor, has acted in over 160 films, including the recently released family drama, Annaatthe, which has been dubbed into other South languages and Hindi.

Car Collection : Rajinikanth has  an impressive collection of cars, including the BMW X5,  Premier Padmini,  Hindustan Motors Ambassador,  Rolls Royce Ghost, Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG, Porsche Cayman S, Toyota Innova Crysta,  Lexus LX470, Honda Civic, and Honda Civic sedan.  

His  BMW X5 is 2011 model,  with a 3.0-litre inline 6-cylinder engine  producing 300 horsepower and features such as leather upholstery, heated front seats,  and a panoramic sunroof. 

The Premier Padmini became synonymous with Rajinikanth’s on-screen persona in the 1980s and 1990s. Rajinikanth was often called the “Ambassador of Tamil Nadu” due to his association with the car.

The Honda Civic, a popular compact car since 1972, is also in Rajinikanth’s collection, with features such as a touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, and a rearview camera. 

House : In 2002, Rajinikanth built his house in a prime Chennai location. Spread over almost one acre, the house has all facilities, including a golf course, open lawn for relaxation, spacious living rooms, Gym, Garden area etc. 

Besides the house, media reports also indicate that the actor has some costly properties across Tamil Nadu and in the neighbourhood state Bangalore. 

Biography : Rajinikanth, born Shivaji Rao Gaikwad in 1950, is the fourth child in his family. He was raised by his father, Ramoji Rao Gaikwad, who raised all the children as a  single parent. 

Rajinikanth, a former bus conductor for Karnataka State Transport Corporation, has been featured in the Central Board of Secondary & Higher Education's study syllabus as 'From Conductor to Superstar'.

He married Latha Rangachari in 1981 and has  two daughters, Aishwarya and Soundarya. 

Rajinikanth has received numerous awards for  his entertaining performances in films,  including Padma Bhushan in 2000 and  Padma Vibhushan in 2016.  

He has also been awarded the Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan Award for Excellence in Indian  Cinema at the 4th Vijaya Awards, the  ‘Centenary Award for Indian Film Personality of the Year’ at the 45th  International Film Festival of India in 2014,  the Icon of Global Jubilee award at the 50th edition of the International  Film Festival of India in 2019. 

India’s highest cinema award at the  67th National Film Awards with the  Dadasaheb Phalke Award.
