The cost of RRR’s Oscars campaign has finally been settled, as the son of SS Rajamouli breaks his silence.
The entire nation can be pleased of SS Rajamouli’s RRR for winning an Oscar in 2023. The movie, which stars Ram Charan and Jr. NTR, has shown to be a significant reversal for Indian films in front of the world.
People are going nuts about news about the cost of the Oscars campaign while yet going gaga over its success. Only now has Rajamouli’s son spoken out about the situation.
Recently, there have been rumours that the RRR team spent an outrageous 80 crores on the Oscars marketing. Everything began when filmmaker Tammareddy Bhardwaj made fun of the magnum opus by joking that 8–10 movies
could be made for the same amount of money, disclosing the campaign’s 80 crore cost. SS Karthikeya, the son of SS Rajamouli, has now ended the discussion.
As reporte during an interview SS Karthikeya said, “We started with the projection of Rs 5 crore for the campaign which itself was a bit high for us.
We divided the campaign into three phases and once we received the nomination, we ramped up the campaign with more screenings which is where we ended up spending more than anticipated.” He revealed spending just 8.5 crores for the campaign.
RRR was rejected as India’s official entry for the 2023 Oscars. The decision to launch the campaign was made by the filmmakers
because the movie gained a great deal of attention in the west and was thought to be Oscar-worthy. The movie did benefit from this technique, as it was nominated and ultimately won a prize.
RRR did live up to expectations, therefore spending 8.5 crores on the Oscars campaign was definitely worthwhile.
