One of the most well-known directors in Bollywood, Karan Johar is descended from a famous family. His father, Yash Johar, was a well-known director and producer who created some of the most iconic Hindi films. We’re going to relive the moment KJo told his father Yash that he wanted to help Aditya Chopra with the making of his debut movie, “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge,” starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, and we’ll show you how his father reacted.
This is around the time that Aditya was preparing to helm “DDLJ,” which, little did anybody know, would go on to become a huge box office success. One of the most recognisable films in Indian cinema history, Maratha Mandir in Mumbai has successfully shown it for more than 27 years.
Karan Johar remembered a story about the time he told his father he wanted to help Aditya Chopra with “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge” in an interview with Karan Thapar. “One fine day, he said now that you have been so closely associated with the screenplay, why don’t you assist me,” he remarked, describing how Aditya contacted him for the same. I told him I couldn’t do it I can’t direct a film. He said, ‘think about it; you have it in you.’”
In order to get his father Yash Johar’s viewpoint because Karan Johar was sceptical of the notion overall, he spoke to his mother Hiroo Johar. Why are you helping Aditya, his father questioned. Help Yash Chopra out; he’s a huge man. The director then said to his father, “I feel like I should help him. Give me a year, and I’ll wait to see what happens. And that’s how it transpired.
