Actress Wamiqa Gabbi surprised director Vishal Bhardwaj with a flawless dancing performance for the short film Fursat.
Vishal Bhardwaj, a filmmaker, writer, and music director, was taken aback when actress Wamiqa Gabbi delivered a flawless dance performance for the short film “Fursat.” The plot in the movie is done in a broadway fashion.
The director was initially concerned about how Wamiqa would fit into the short film, but after meeting her at the rehearsal, he was confident in his decision.
Vishal Bhardwaj said: “I was always sure of Wamiqa’s acting capabilities, however, knowing that she isn’t a trained dancer, I had my doubts and had even discussed simplifying the choreography if required. But she impressed us all after the first rehearsal itself. It’s her dedication towards her craft that she chose this challenge and I am really proud of her.
She stated, “I appreciate experimenting with different storytelling formats. Vishal Bhardwaj and I worked on the unique format in the short film Fursat. Execution, however, is the most important aspect of this format experiment. That can absolutely go wrong if it’s not executed properly.
She further added: “I am happy to have got a chance to try out this format with Vishal Sir. As they say, the devil lies in details, sir just goes for that. He points out those small nuances and which make his work a class apart.”
