Noted producer Sridhar Lagadapati’s son Vikram Sahidev’s new film, Virgin Story co-starring Sowmika Pandiyan as the female lead has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it fares.

Story: To chill out with his friends Vikram( Vikram Sahidev) goes to a pub. To the same pub, a girl named Priya ( Sowmika Pandiyan) comes to hook up with someone for one night. In the process, she comes across Vikram and asks him for a one-night stand. Later, the young couple goes through various troubles? What are those hurdles and how will the couple come them? Forms the main USB of the film.

Performances: Vikram Sahidev and Sowmika Pandiyan did a convincing job as the lead pair. The chemistry between them is one of the plus points for the film.

Looks-wise, Vikram is good and impresses with his dance movements in a song. On the other hand, heroine Sowmika is adorable and her role quite confidently.

A couple of new faces are seen in key roles in the movie and all of them did a good job in their respective roles. Jabardasth fame Rocket Raghava and Thagubothu Ramesh did a decent job with their comedy timing.

Technicalities: The cinematography work by Anish Tharun Kumar is good as he showcased the entire film with bright visuals. Garry B’s editing is decent.

Music scored by Achu Rajamani is nice as all his songs are audible on the screen and so is the case with his background score.

Production design, artwork, costumes and production values are good and apt for the film’s genre.

Analysis: Pradip B Atluri directs Virgin Story. Though the director’s vision of exploring youthful content with a one-night hook up as the interconnecting concept is good but diluted the proceedings with the flat narration.

As he decided to showcase the story of today’s youth, Pradip would have added enough romantic scenes between the lead pair to attract the targetted audience but sadly the proceedings lack romantic texture between the lead pair.

To summerize, Virgin Story is a youthful movie that has a good performance from the lead pair and a decent premise. But on the flip side, the lack of strong presentation makes the film a below-average fare.

Verdict: Weak romance!

Rating: 1.5/5
