Just two weeks ago, Rana Daggubati and Sai Pallavi’s Virata Parvam was released in the theatres. While the film opened to a decent talk, it wasn’t enough for it to bring in good numbers, or even stay in the theatres for a long time.
The movie is now set to be released on Netflix, and ready for streaming, from July 1st, within just two weeks of its release. This is already setting an example in Tollywood, especially with respect to the decision that was recently taken, regarding releasing movies on OTT platforms. It was said that a film should run in theatres for at least 50 days before being able to stream on an OTT platform.
Several doubts have been expressed, regarding whether or not producers would stick to the decision, and with Virata Parvam now being released on an OTT platform within just two weeks, it sends a clear message that no producer would want to incur losses by keeping a film in theatres when they get a good OTT offer.
