Vir Das has shared his thoughts on people staying silent about important public issues.
In a post he said that being “apolitical” is often just a comfortable choice to avoid uncomfortable conversations for sure.
He believes people should not use a lack of privilege as a reason to stay silent as many who speak up have much more to lose. Vir also said that in a democracy, citizens should question the leaders they elect.
According to him politics affects everyone’s daily life from roads and water to education and healthcare for sure.
Although he did not mention Sonam Wangchuk by name, his post came as Wangchuk’s hunger strike continues to attract national attention adding to the ongoing debate about civic responsibility and the role of public figures.
