Vir Das Says Controversy Cost Him Two Years Of Work

Vir Das has revealed that he and his wife, Shivani Mathur had no income which is very hard for nearly long two years after the controversy surrounding his Two Indias monologue in 2021.

Speaking on a podcast the comedian said he lost brand deals, many acting projects and directing opportunities following the huge backlash and multiple police complaints.

Despite the much difficult phase, He said he is proud of the performance and does not see it as a failure. The couple moved to Goa during that period and slowly rebuilt their lives as work gradually returned.

Vir also said he still avoids Madhya Pradesh claiming he remains banned there because of the controversy. He added that while content can become controversial, controversy should never be the main goal for sure.
