Kannada hero Sudeep’s pan-India project, Vikrant Rona under the direction of Anup Bhandari has hit the silver screens today. Let’s see how it fares.

Story: Set in remote village Komarattu, to crack the mysterious child deaths happening in the area, Vikrant Rona ( Sudeep) a cop comes to same village. In his investigation process, he gathers a lot of information. What will Vikrant Rona do to collect the data related to the deaths? Will he able to find whereabouts behind the mysterious events in the village? Is there any hidden agenda behind Vikrant Rona landing in the village? To know an answer to the questions, you have to watch the film at the nearest theaters.

Performances: Kichcha Sudeep impresses with his usual acting throughout the film. The film has nothing much for him to perform but he is fine with his trademark mannerisms and good appearance. Two stylish stuns done by Sudeep adds freshness to the screen.

Actor Nirup Bhandari gets a purposeful role and he is fine in his key role. Yet another actor Ravishankar Gowda is impressive in his negative shaded character. His acting during the climax portions adds weightage to the film. Small kid who played the daughter role is cute on screen and is okay in her key role.

Bollywood beauty Jacqueline Fernandez is fine with her dance movements in Ra Ra Rakkamma song. Young actress Neetha Ashok did her part quit decently and the same is the case with the other character artists who played prominent roles.

Technicalities: One thing which instantly grabbed the audience attention is the cinematography work from William David. His amazing work is visible on screen. The way he showcased the natural locations in and around countryside registers well.

Music by B Ajaneesh Loknath is alright. While all the song are situational, his background score for key scenes in the second half brings depth to the proceedings.

Editing work by Ashik Kusugolli is okay but he would have trimmed close to fifteen minutes in the first half for an engaging appeal. Production values for this star-studded project are lavish.

Analysis: Written and directed by Anup Bhandari, Vikrant Rona is more like a content driven movie. The unique setup created for the film is good and makes the audience watch for what is happening next. The way all the sub-plots are unfolded during the second half brings authentic texture to the film.

On the flip side, slow-paced narration and a few unwanted scenes before addressing the main concept dilute the audience mood. If the director would have avoided the lengthy and slow-paced portions in the first half, the result would have been even better.

To summerize, Vikrant Rona is an adventurous action drama that has good setup and the suspense factor is held well till the climax. Settled performances from all the artists is definitely an added advantage for the film but in the box office prospects we have to wait and see how far will the film perform in Telugu.

Verdict: Watchable crime drama!

Rating: 2.5/5
