Filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari Bhatt were arrested on December 7, 2025, after a fraud complaint of Rs 30 crore was filed by Dr. Ajay Murdia, the founder of Indira Group.
As per the FIR at Bhupalpura police station in Udaipur, Dr. Murdia says Vikram Bhatt, his wife, their daughter, and others convinced him to invest over Rs 30 crore in several film projects, including a biopic about his late wife.
They reportedly promised returns of up to Rs 200 crore. But many projects stopped midway, and some films released without giving him proper credit or returns. The FIR lists eight people as accused.
Vikram Bhatt has denied all allegations. He called the FIR misleading and claimed some documents might be fake. He says the projects only stopped because Dr. Murdia stopped sending funds and that he has proof to defend himself.
Police from Rajasthan and Mumbai are now checking bank records, contracts and messages and more arrests may happen as the investigation continues.
Mahesh Bhatt’s brother, Alia Bhatt’s uncle, filmmaker Vikram Bhatt has been arrested,
