Vijay has taken oath as the new Chief Minister and is now fully focused on government duties. For now he has decided to stay away from acting.
His upcoming film Jana Nayagan will be his last release before taking a break from cinema. At the same time Vijay has made a big decision that will benefit the Tamil film industry for sure.
He directed officials to allow theatres across Tamil Nadu to screen five shows per day during the first week of release for every Tamil film.
This move is expected to help big and highly anticipated films collect better revenues.
Instead of allowing ticket price hikes, Vijay chose a more audience-friendly solution by increasing the number of shows. From June onwards, new Tamil films can screen five daily shows without special permissions.
