After becoming the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Vijay has been meeting several film industry representatives who are raising important issues related to cinema and theatres.
Recently, the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners’ and Multiplex Theatre Owners’ Association submitted a list of demands to him. Their main aim is to improve theatre operations and provide a better experience for movie audiences.
Theatre owners requested a single-window clearance system for theatre construction and renovation approvals.
They also asked for theatre licenses to be valid for three years and said separate projector licenses are unnecessary because theatres are now fully digital. Another key demand was removing entertainment tax on Tamil films to reduce ticket prices.
The association also proposed fixed ticket rates for premium and regular screens. They hope Vijay will introduce cinema-friendly policies and support the theatre industry’s growth.
