Vijay Gives Relief To Theatre Owners

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay has permitted theatres across the state to screen six shows daily for newly released Tamil films during their first week.

The new order allows shows from 6 AM to 2:30 AM the following day for seven days. This permission also covers weekends, public holidays and local festivals.

Theatres do not need prior approval to screen six shows. However, the government has not approved the proposed ticket price hike, another major demand from theatre owners.

The decision follows requests from film producers and theatre associations. Information and Publicity Minister Rajmohan held discussions with industry representatives before placing the proposals before Vijay.

Earlier, theatres were allowed five shows daily.
