Vijay Deverakonda’s film “World Famous Lover” (2020) faced a significant setback at the box office. In a surprising turn of events, Vijay Deverakonda, on humanitarian grounds, decided to return half of his remuneration to the film’s producer, KS Rama Rao, due to the movie’s commercial failure. Additionally, he declined to accept a new residential property offered by Rama Rao prior to the film’s release.
These revelations were made by Vijay’s father, Govardhan Rao, in a recent interview. Addressing the controversy surrounding Abhishek Nama, a distributor who claimed financial discrepancies, Govardhan Rao urged Abhishek to seek legal recourse if he believed he was owed money, rather than making unsubstantiated allegations against his son.
He emphasized that their family had no prior association with Abhishek Nama and had only maintained contact on humanitarian grounds post-release. Govardhan Rao clarified that they couldn’t compensate distributors for losses, especially considering Vijay’s busy schedule with commitments to renowned producers like Dil Raju, Mythri Movie Makers, and Geeta Arts.
He stated that Vijay was unaware of the discussions with Abhishek Nama and emphasized that dragging his son’s name into the situation was regrettable. Moreover, Govardhan Rao revealed that he had recommended Bollywood director Sanjay Leela Bhansali or Telugu star director Sukumar for his son’s project, using Bhansali’s name to divert Abhishek Nama, whom he believed was incapable of securing Bhansali for the project.
